I just spent 5.5 hours in a hospital because my grandpa’s health took a rapid dive today. Now I’ve got to stay awake to let my aunt into my apartment (because I live a couple blocks south of the hospital it’s becoming a makeshift crash space).
2000s GM party!
So AMA while I try to stay awake!

You’ve just been elected president. You have to choose one (non-Top Gear/GT) auto journalist, one Opponaut, one celebrity, and one character from a TV show for your cabinet. Who do you choose?

Opinions on Torinos and Gran Torinos?

when are you going to get yourself bike gear and a bike? what are you planning as a first bike?

Stef, Jayhawk Jake, Emma Watson, and Seven of Nine (from Star Trek Voyager).

Sorry about your grandpa buddy. Hopefully he’ll be rocking soon enough.
Onto my motocross question.
You’ve just won the biggest lottery jackpot ever. Besides the warehouse full of race cars, race bikes, automotive museum pieces, what would be your 3 vehicle DDs? (assuming you still want to drive on pleb roads)

Spring/Summer of next year. I’m trying to decide between a new (or new-ish) Yamaha SCR950? (the v-twin one), Ducati Scrambler Cafe, or a used BMW F800... because I have no idea. Or if I can find a Husqvarna Vitpilen/Scartpilen, that.

Torinos are great, as are their Cyclone Spoiler cousins. Gran Torinos are also pretty cool.

Citröen CX Loadrunner (because, just look at it), Alpine GTA Lemans Turbo II, and a blue Škoda Octavia vRS estate.

id avoid the bmw..its rather on the strong side for a beginner.
I was going to say something about the SCR being almost 1000cc, then I noticed it only made like 45hp. ouch.

Also, just for reference, I’m 6' tall and weigh around 230+lbs. I’m not gonna go crazy, but I do have some heft to drag around.

point still stands on the BMW. my dad was 240 while he was riding. still moved quickly.
The yamaha i was just laughing that its SO weak out of such a big engine.

Sorry to hear. Hope grampies will be OK.
Is your WS6 hood original?

Yeah, I get that, I was just giving you some reference. The Yamaha is all show, but it sure does look pretty good. I’m super excited for the Husqvarnas though, they’re stunning in photos.

Now if you had to choose between my Gran Torino and my Uncles ‘66 Mustang Fastback which one would you choose?
![]() 12/07/2016 at 00:32 |

It’s a flat hood, not a WS6
![]() 12/07/2016 at 00:34 |

probably makes that 50lb-ft EVERYWHERE.
![]() 12/07/2016 at 00:48 |

Probably the ‘66

Because small and quick?
![]() 12/07/2016 at 01:04 |
|
Yep, and probably has plenty of room for fiddling with it to make more.
![]() 12/07/2016 at 01:05 |

eh, its got super low compression. that just means turbos :)
![]() 12/07/2016 at 01:15 |

Because black & gold, and the first gen fastback is one of the prettiest cars ever.

BOOOOOOOOOOST!

I do agree with that, I hope one day I can acquire that car from him and start a small car collection. I really love the sound of a SBF with racing exhaust. The Cleveland is amazing when I’m wringing it out to max but something about a Windsor motor has that howl while the Cleveland had the Muscle Sound (more then likely cause the 350 SBC and 351 Cleveland were designed by the same guy).

Sorry to hear. If it’s time it’s time. I went thru this a couple years ago. Hopefully he recovers and if not just make him comfortable and happy.

I hope so, they’re thinking it may have been a small stroke. He’s doing well mentally but the complications of being 340+lbs, diabetic, and not breathing well are not helpful.

Angry SBF is a great sound, race exhaust just makes it better

I love fox bodies because they still have that last little bit of that left and the 4.6L DOHC is the last stand for that sound imho. Nothing beats a 69-70 BOSS 302 Roaring down a track.
